Ingredients (Serves 2)
Steak
1 lb flank, strip, or sirloin steak
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
Longan Reduction
¾ cup longan, chopped
¼ cup beef broth
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp rice vinegar
Step-by-Step Instructions
Remove steak from refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking.
Rub steak with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
Heat grill or cast-iron skillet to high heat.
Cook steak:
4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare
Adjust for desired doneness
Transfer steak to a plate and rest 5–10 minutes.
While steak rests, add longan, beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, and rice vinegar to a saucepan.
Bring to a boil, then reduce to medium heat.
Simmer 8–10 minutes, lightly mashing longan, until sauce is thick and glossy.
Strain sauce if a smooth finish is desired.
Slice steak against the grain and drizzle with longan soy reduction.
