Introduction
Juicy roasted turkey breast gets a tropical makeover with a sweet-tart passion fruit glaze infused with fresh rosemary, garlic, orange, and honey. Passion fruit’s natural acidity cuts through the richness of the turkey, creating a beautifully balanced dish with plenty of flavor. This is an excellent choice for Sunday dinner or a special holiday meal.
Ingredients
For the Turkey
– 1 boneless turkey breast, approximately 3 pounds
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon dried thyme
– 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
For the Passion Fruit Glaze
– 1/2 cup passion fruit pulp, preferably strained to remove most seeds
– 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
– 3 tablespoons honey
– 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
– 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
– 1/4 cup chicken broth
– 1 teaspoon cornstarch
– 1 tablespoon cold water
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels.
3. Rub the turkey with olive oil.
4. Combine salt, pepper, garlic powder, thyme, and smoked paprika. Season the turkey evenly.
5. Place the turkey breast in a roasting pan or oven-safe baking dish.
6. Roast for approximately 45 minutes before beginning to check the internal temperature.
7. While the turkey cooks, prepare the glaze. Combine passion fruit pulp, orange juice, honey, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, garlic, rosemary, and chicken broth in a small saucepan.
8. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat.
9. Cook for 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
10. Mix cornstarch with cold water and stir into the sauce. Simmer another 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened.
11. Brush approximately one-third of the glaze over the turkey during the final 20 minutes of cooking.
12. Continue roasting until the thickest portion reaches 165°F. Cooking time will vary depending on the shape and thickness of the turkey breast.
13. Remove the turkey from the oven and rest for 10–15 minutes.
14. Warm the remaining glaze separately.
15. Slice the turkey and arrange it on a serving platter.
16. Spoon the warm passion fruit glaze over the slices.
Serving Suggestions
Serve with roasted sweet potatoes, garlic green beans, wild rice, or roasted Brussels sprouts.
Recipe Tips
– Strain the passion fruit pulp if you prefer a smooth glaze.
– Add another tablespoon of honey if your passion fruit is particularly tart.
– Reserve some glaze for serving rather than brushing all of it onto the raw turkey.
– Use a meat thermometer to prevent overcooking.
Why Passion Fruit Works
Passion fruit brings a bright tropical acidity that balances the mild, savory flavor of turkey. Rosemary adds an earthy herbal note, while orange and honey soften the fruit’s tartness.
